It was a chilly morning on the 23rd of Magh. We, the students of class 10 had gathered at our school premises and we were all buzzing with excitement. We all had waited a long time for that day. Our school was taking us to an educational tour. Pokhara, Gandruk and Gorkha made up the four day itinerary. After a long wait, the bus finally arrived at around 7 a.m. and we embarked on the journey. There were Forty two students accompanied by four teachers and one guide.
The journey on the bus was great fun. We all sang and enjoyed the entire way. Throughout the journey, we could see beautiful landscapes created by the high hills, snow-capped mountains and perennial rivers. Our first stop was the elegant and beautifully city of Pokhara which is widely considered as the go-to place for the tourists in Nepal. Pokhara is famous for its lakes like Phewa, Begnas and Rupa. First, we did boating in the Begnas Lake. It was an unforgettable experience. By the time we finished, it was quite dark and we went to our hotel & called it a day.
The next day, we woke up early at around 4 a.m. and left for Sarangkot at around 5 a.m to witness the most beautiful & breathtaking sunrise. We all were excited to see the sunrise of Sarangkot. By the time we reached there, a crowd had already gathered. It was really a beautiful scene to be observed. After seeing the amazing sunrise, we visited Mahendra Cave and Bat Cave and then we left for Ghandruk.
Ghandruk is famous for its trekking route. We started our trekking at around 1 p.m. We made our way up the hill, crossing the Modi and Dhoti Khola on the way. We could also closely see the lifestyle of the local people. Never before had this group walked so long and enjoyed so much. By the time, we reached the top, everyone was exhausted. We were given a warm reception by the local Gurung Community and they also organised a cultural programme for us. It was freezing cold, so, after having dinner, we enjoyed the campfire.
In the morning, the breathtaking scenes of the mountains made us forget our tiredness. Annapurna peaks & the famous Macchapucchure peak stood white and tall in front of us. The snow clad mountain range mesmerized everybody. A lot of photographs were clicked and will remain as one of the best memories in time to come.
We were back in Pokhara the next day. We visited Davis Fall and did boating in Phewa Lake. We also visited Brindabasini temple and the International Mountain Museum. We received great knowledge about various mountains of Nepal and mountaineering. Our tour had nearly reached its end. We set for our return to Kathmandu the next day. On the way, we visited the historical city of Gorkha, about which we had studied very much in our social studies. We visited the Gorkha Durbar and the Gorkha Museum. We saw many historical weapons, costumes, paintings & architectural masterpieces in the museum. This concluded our tour. We reached Kathmandu at around 7p.m.
The educational tour had been a resounding success. We, not only saw the most beautiful and historical places of Nepal but we also experienced the rich cultural diversity of Nepal. This tour made us a little wiser. The tour has also provided much needed relaxation to our minds which now is focused in preparation for the upcoming S.L.C. examinations.
At last, I want to thank all our teachers who acted as our guide & friend during the entire tour. It was really a memorable tour which shall always remain in our hearts and memories.
